At Mad Swans in the South Downs, we are passionate about introducing young people to the game of golf. Everyone starts their golfing journey somewhere, and we believe there is no better place to begin than here with us..
Whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience, we offer something for every young golfer. Our aim is simple: to make golf fun, welcoming and accessible. There’s no strict dress code, no intimidating atmosphere, and no pressure — just a fantastic place to learn, play and enjoy the game.
Junior golfers can enjoy our stunning 12-hole golf course, improve their skills on the floodlit Toptracer driving range , take individual coaching lessons, or join our popular weekly group coaching sessions. We also run competitions, holiday camps and team events throughout the year, creating plenty of opportunities to develop skills and make new friends.
Beyond golf, young people and families can also enjoy our 12-hole Putt Patch putting course, padel court, and pickleball court, helping to create a vibrant sporting community for all ages.
No clubs? No problem. We can provide all the equipment needed to get started, so all you need to do is turn up and have fun.
Why should my child join the Junior Group Lessons?
Our Junior Group Lessons provide a fun, safe and structured environment for young golfers to learn, improve and make new friends. Sessions are designed to develop all aspects of the game, including technique, skills, course play, etiquette and confidence. Whether your child is picking up a golf club for the first time or already has experience, our coaching programme helps them progress while enjoying the game.
When do the lessons take place?
Junior coaching sessions run at the following times:
Saturday: 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Sunday: 9:30am – 11:00am
Children are placed into suitable groups based on their age and experience level.
Do the lessons run all year round?
Yes. Our Junior Academy operates throughout the year and is divided into three terms:
Sprint Term - Summer Term - Autumn Term
The programme follows the school calendar, making it easy for families to plan ahead.
Are there any age restrictions?
As a guide, our sessions are suitable for children aged 7 to 15 years old. However, every child develops at their own pace and age is only a guideline.
If your child is younger than 7 or older than 15 and would like to get involved, please get in touch. We are always happy to arrange a trial session and assess the most suitable group.
Can my child try a session before committing?
Absolutely. We understand that trying a new activity can be a big step, so we are happy to offer a trial session. This allows your child to experience the coaching, meet the group and ensure they feel comfortable before committing to a full term.
